Othonna intermedia, commonly known as Entemee Othonna, is a distinctive succulent geophyte belonging to the family Asteraceae and genus Othonna. Endemic to the arid, rocky semi-desert regions of the Western and Northern Cape Provinces in South Africa, it has evolved to thrive in dry, well-drained soils with extreme temperature fluctuations.

 

Cultivation and Care

Othonna intermedia is prized by succulent enthusiasts for its compact, architectural form and low-maintenance requirements. It prefers full sunlight and a gritty, well-draining growing medium (such as a mix of sand, perlite, and potting soil). Watering should be minimal-allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, and reduce watering during the summer dormancy period to prevent root rot. It is relatively cold-tolerant, able to withstand brief frosts down to around 0°C (32°F).
