Euphorbia mlanjeana

Euphorbia mlanjeana is a rare succulent plant in the Euphorbiaceae family, native to the Mulanje Massif in southern Malawi. It has a prominent fleshy underground caudex and short, upright stems armed with distinct sharp spines. Small green leaves emerge at the growing tips and are shed during dry seasons. Adapted to rocky, welldrained habitats, it thrives in bright light, warm conditions, and with infrequent watering. This species is threatened by habitat loss and overcollection; it is listed under CITES Appendix II, regulating international trade to protect wild populations.
