Lophophora fricii

Lophophora fricii (common name: Silver Crown) is a rare and slow‑growing cactus in the family Cactaceae, genus Lophophora. It has a globular to flattened stem, pale green to bluish‑green, with very short, soft spines or nearly spineless areoles. It forms a large, fleshy taproot. Flowers are small, pale pink to white, funnel‑shaped, and appear in spring to summer. Native to northern Mexico, it grows in dry, rocky, well‑drained habitats. Due to overcollection and habitat loss, it is protected in the wild and highly valued by collectors for its unique appearance and slow growth.
