Pelargonium triste, commonly known as Cinnamon Geranium or Sad Geranium, is a tuberous succulent species belonging to the family Geraniaceae and genus Pelargonium. Endemic to the arid and semi-arid regions of South Africa, it thrives in well-drained sandy or gravelly soils under full sunlight.
Morphologically, it features a fleshy underground tuber that stores water to survive prolonged droughts. The above-ground stems are slender, bearing soft, hairy, lobed leaves that emit a subtle cinnamon-like fragrance when crushed. In late winter to early spring, it produces clusters of delicate, pale yellow to cream-colored flowers with distinct dark maroon markings at the petal bases.
