Euphorbia astrophora

Euphorbia astrophora, a rare succulent spurge, is a perennial succulent subshrub belonging to the family Euphorbiaceae, genus Euphorbia, and it is endemic to Madagascar. It has no widely accepted common English name.

Notably, like all euphorbias, it contains toxic milky sap in all tissues; contact with skin can cause irritation and redness, and ingestion is highly harmful. In the wild, it grows in the arid and semi-arid rocky areas of southern Madagascar, adapted to well-drained sandy soil, full sunlight and seasonal drought. As a Madagascar endemic succulent with a narrow distribution range, it is listed in CITES Appendix II, which means its international trade is strictly regulated and requires a valid CITES export/import permit.
